About

Charlie was born sometime in October 2013. By the time she was 2 months old, they surrendered Charlie to a shelter in Turkey with a broken back leg. Her original family told the shelter that somebody threw her down the stairs.

She was a young puppy with a broken leg. Shelter life was difficult. One day, when she was trying to get some food, one of the bigger dogs attacked her. He bit her face which left her with a scar on her face.

Nobody wanted to adopt Charlie because of the scar. They were about to euthanize her.

Then a miracle happened.

One of the shelter workers got in touch with Charlie’s daddy. Daddy wanted Charlie not despite her scar but because of it. Daddy brought Charlie home right before xmas 2013. Charlie was a Christmas Miracle.

Daddy was a British lad living in Turkey. Some time later Daddy met Mommy who was Turkish but had been living abroad for years. Charlie was the baby of the family now. Some years later Mommy got pregnant. The week they found out that Babe (Charlie’s human sister) would be coming in 9 months, they also found out that Charlie had melanoma.

Charlie has been living with melanoma for 5.5 years now.

In June 2023, the doctors told that Charlie’s cancer was now terminal. Mommy felt alone as most people told her Charlie was just a pet. To her family, Charlie was never just a pet. She is their first daughter.

Mommy turned to the internet for support. She reactivated a page they had for Charlie on Instagram. They started building a community of people who see their fur babies as their children and part of their family.

Together, they raised money for Charlie’s cancer treatment. Charlie is receiving radiation at the moment,

Mommy wanted to give back to the community. She decided to make a documentary about the love and the grief surrounding the fur babies of this wonderful community. As a result, Charlie’s family created this website.
